How to make Ink
I've found quite a few sites online that have recipies for making ink. Some of them involve chemicals and ingredients we wouldn't want kids messing around with, but I also found some involving berries and other kid friendly ingredients. Most of recipies require ingredients we wouldn't be able to include in the kit, so I thought it may be a good idea to simply include a few recipies with the paper making kit instead of making a seperate ink making kit.
www.easyfunschool.com/article1337.html has a recipie for berry ink that only requires berries vinegar, salt, measuring cups, a strainer, a bowl, and a wooden spoon. members.aol.com/sail2957/ink.html has quite a few different recipies for dyes and inks. There is one for 'Earthy inks" and it list what ingredient, ranging from vegetables to flowers and coffee, you need for what color along with alum, a spice, and water. This site also has a disappearing ink that requires lemon juice, onion juice, and sugar. If you look under the other categories it give recipies for different doughs which could be useful for other projects.
I hope this is what you wanted for the research on making ink. If there is something else you want me to look up about ink let me know.
